Mario's Galactic Adventure Preview Arrives, Introducing Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors

Nintendo alongside Illumination shared the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. This occurred during a dedicated Nintendo presentation that highlighted the soon-to-release cartoon movie.

The follow-up to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will transport Mario to the outer limits of the galaxy. Along the way, he discovers a new princess and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.

A Space-Faring Quest Inspired by Iconic Releases

Similar to the games from the Wii period that act as its source material, Mario will venture away from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. On his epic voyage, he will reunite with some familiar faces, including the Luma, a fan favorite from the original cinematic release.

However, it seems Mario and his sibling Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who reportedly commands metallic abilities. Interestingly, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also features references to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Star-Studded Voice Cast Returns and Expands

The movie will see the return of the initial voice actors, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. It was announced by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.

A Big Year for Mario

Mario's latest cinematic adventure is set to release near the 40-year celebration of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 promises to be a important time for Mario and his allies.

Nintendo has three new games officially announced for the upcoming year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Launch Date Set

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
