Nottingham Forest manager Ange Postecoglou maintains that any pressure regarding his role will not impact his methodology.

The team remains winless in his first six games since the Australian took over from Nuno Espirito Santo at the club's stadium.

A group of Forest supporters shouted, "you're getting sacked in the morning", towards the ex- Tottenham and Celtic boss following the recent 3-2 European loss at their ground to the Danish side.

Postecoglou's Response to Pressure

Postecoglou, however, mentioned that the European trophy he won at Tottenham last season, prior to being sacked in the off-season, was evidence he does not allow external factors to affect his coaching.

"It doesn't enter my head," he added. "My duty lies in making sure this football club advances and gets to a level where it can challenge for things," stated Postecoglou.

"Should I begin setting deadlines to that or stress over what is going to happen soon then I am not fulfilling the position I have been given.

"I just don't think it is helpful to anyone. Ultimately, I have to focus on the environment, the training, the style of play, and as I mentioned last night, I am still extremely confident in my belief that we are not too far away.

"Put it this way - I was aware I was getting sacked at Tottenham approximately 3-4 months before I did, but that didn't stop me from winning something."

Professional History

The veteran coach moved to Spurs from Celtic in 2023 and supporters at first embraced the Australian for his attacking playing style, with the London club finishing 5th in the English top flight during his first season.

Postecoglou's following season was challenging as Spurs ended fourth from bottom in the standings. He nevertheless, guide the team to their first trophy in nearly two decades as they beat Manchester United in the Europa League championship match.

Current Circumstances

Forest visit Newcastle United on Sunday (2pm UK time).

Amid the unfavorable streak of results, there is little doubt it has been a challenging beginning for Postecoglou.

And the numbers demonstrate just how poor Forest have been since his arrival.

Performance Breakdown

  • In Postecoglou's half-dozen games, they have lost four times across three different competitions
  • No Premier League team has lost as many matches as Forest since his appointment
  • They have conceded thirteen scores - at a average of over two per game
  • Only Manchester United and Burnley have a poorer goals conceded per game record than Forest since Postecoglou's arrival
  • Surprisingly, it is the 35th instance in which a Premier League manager has failed to win in their initial six matches in every tournament

Record Context

Paul Jewell holds the record, having failed to win in his initial twenty-seven games as Derby County manager in the 2007-2008 season.

Nuno was dismissed after only three matches of this campaign when Forest were 10th in the standings. They are currently 17th, having tied once and lost two of their three domestic games under Postecoglou.

He is the first permanent Forest manager in 100 years not to secure a victory in his initial six matches.

Fan Perspective

This campaign could have been one of Nottingham Forest's finest in recent times. Entry into Europe for the initial occasion in three decades, the strongest team this millennium and everyone at the club working towards the same direction.

Unexpectedly, at least for now, that has all gone away. Nuno has departed, displays have been abject and on the recent evening the City Ground criticized the new manager Ange Postecoglou after only six games.

And yet it's very much characteristic Forest, a team that veers from achievement to internal crisis like a novice motorist who can't stay in a traffic line.

Future Challenges

Amid fixtures against the Magpies, the Blues, the Portuguese side, Bournemouth and the Red Devils coming up, it's quite difficult to say if he can turn it around before it becomes even more toxic.

But ask any supporter and they'll tell you the identical thing, it's always eventful at Nottingham Forest.
